“Carnivores Welcome!”

Welcome to the Urban Herbivore where the grass is green and Carnivores are always welcome! Almost all of my recipes have bloomed from Carnivore roots. I’m a huger not a shaker and a lover not a hater, so welcome and tell your meat-eating friends it’s friendly over here in the pasture of greens.

As this post hits the site I am now editing already filmed footage of the first two soups in the Seven Sundays of Soup series and there are easy substitutions for all of you carnivores out there who are reading this.

I will be making these soups in my MegaChef aka “Mike”. Mike is an 8 quart electric pressure cooker, but you don’t need a pressure cooker to make these recipes. As a herbivore I plan my meals and do batch cooking every weekend so I can have a successful week. I have reached a point in my life where my body can no longer tolerate certain types of foods and that is why I have made the switch to a whole food plant-based lifestyle and I am not going to lie the pasture is pretty green over here and I am loving it.

Here is the Sunday Soup lineup so far:

Week 1:

If you love Mexican food with some heat, you will love the Hatched Mushroom Chili. I substituted mushrooms for chicken and veggie broth for oil. I garnished mine with cilantro, but you can garnish yours with sour cream and cheese if you want. I’m not here to judge.

Week 2:

Aunt Anne’s Farrow e Fagioli soup is herbie version from a well-known olive garden. I substituted South Fork Italian Sausage Spice for 2 lbs of Sweet or Hot Italian Sausage and it came out banging!

Week 3:

I am making a Bella Smokey Red Lentil Chili that is the herbie version of a Red Rocks Beef & Sausage Chili I discovered at the recent Chili demonstration I went to at Savory Spice Shop. Oh and you didn’t hear this from me, but if you are a hunter who likes to make sausage…shhhhhhhhhh, Savory Spice Shop has sausage spices. Oh and psst, if you are a Brisket person checkout the ‘Cue Glue. It’s a pit-master’s secret weapon…just sayin.

I am posing the recipes for these three soups soon (before for the videos) and I will be sharing them on my social media accounts so please follow, share, and check back.

Big changes are going on around here and I have been so busy I’ve just had to stay off-line. This evening I made a quick meal with roasted corn, pinto beans, green pepper, red onion, tomatoes, spinach, lime juice, and avocado.
